So, I had my first chat with Wilma today, most of which was me talking – possibly because I didn’t let her get much of a word in… but here’s some ground we covered:
There are 5 pillars to doing the Gloji:
- Diet – mine is all over the place, especially the going ages without eating and then grabbing bread, which is boring
- Movement – I’ve already made a start by going for a walk in the mornings, I’ve awarded myself lots of points for that. Much room for improvement though.
- Sleep – Got a routine that’s working – it’s not perfect but I do get to sleep
- Alcohol – I said to Wilma just cross that one out because I’m teetotal
- Mood – I’m generally quite happy I think? I’ll get back to you on that if anything changes.
Gloji seems to have an interesting approach. I like that it has nothing to do with counting calories or making sudden, major changes. It’s a lifestyle approach and there’s quite a lot of watching videos and looking at things a different way. I spend quite a lot of time in front of a computer anyway but that kind of works, because I can watch videos in the sometimes very short breaks I get between other things I’m doing.
I’m about to go have dinner and it says I should choose my meals from the Gloji menu. I already told Wilma that that is pretty much not going to happen (I like making up my own recipes) but that I will follow the principles for how to put meals together and I might try some of the things it suggests.
Right now I’m heading into the kitchen to do 2 things – to get something to eat for evening meal but also to make something for lunch tomorrow so that I don’t find myself opening cupboards but ending up eating bread because I didn’t have time to make anything.
Oh… and it isn’t January 31st today. Kindly ignore that. It’s the 7th of February.

I wonder if the alcohol heading could be re-labelled as Aware of Addictions. What are your addictions? (Or the ones you need to be aware of) I wonder if addictions to anything is what the awareness needs to take account of, to keep them in proportion, in a healthy amount of indulgence and not in an unbalanced way that they take over your life.
My addictions are workahol, and the Xbox. I did wonder whether a way to get me moving more might just be to put a post-it note that says ‘NO’ on the Xbox controller.
Interesting thoughts – thank you!
